JUDITH MACNUTT, President and co-founder of Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, FL, holds a Master’s degree in psychology from Eastern Kentucky University and is a licensed psychotherapist in Florida. Early in her career she discovered the need to address her client’s spiritual needs as well as the psychological. After working in psychiatric hospitals in Boston and Kentucky, Judith moved to Jerusalem where she directed a House of Prayer. After returning to the US, Judith established Christian Counseling Services in Clearwater, FL, integrating her work as a psychotherapist with healing prayer. She married Francis MacNutt in 1980, and together they founded Christian Healing Ministries, the goal of which is to make Christian Healing Prayer a way of life in families, churches and medical professions. They traveled extensively together and co-authored the book, Praying for Your Unborn Child. Judith also authored Angels are for Real, Encountering Angels, and contributed to Angels All Around Us (Guideposts). Judith continues to travel, write and teach about the power of healing prayer. She lives in Jacksonville, Florida and has two adult children, Rachel and David.

Upon graduation, Judith moved to Boston, where she worked as a clinical psychologist at several area hospitals. She soon discovered, as she worked with disturbed patients, that psychological therapy alone was inadequate to meet the needs of suffering people. As she began to quietly pray for her patients, she saw immediate results: they changed in remarkable ways and often were able to leave the hospital permanently. In 1974, Judith moved to Jerusalem, where the Southern Baptist Church offered her a ministry site that became a center for prayer. Judith combined psychotherapy and prayer to both Jews and Arabs at the center. In 1977, she returned to the U.S. and opened a private practice in Clearwater, Florida, providing both prayer ministry and professional counseling to members of the Christian community. Judith first met Francis MacNutt briefly in Jerusalem in 1975. Two years later, providentially, they met again at a retreat center in Staten Island, New York.
